Golden brilliance through a glazed terracotta facade

The "Tsarskaya Square", Moscow

The residential complex "Tsarskaya Square" was built in Moscow in just two years. The ensemble consists of four buildings and combines the historical location, the bright architectural concept, the comfortable living environment and modern technical solution in a unique way. Argeton provided the visual highlight for the building with shining golden facade elements, visible from afar.

The urban design solution of the complex "Tsarskaya Square" is based on the idea of a "city within the city" with comfortable public areas, organized within the complex. The complex is grouped around a historical monument - the royal pavilion.

The net living space of the business class complex is approximately 290,000 sqm of high-quality living space. Each building is historically named after a king or queen from recent Russian history. The architectural and design concept of the residential complex is based on the principle of creating an ensemble that takes up stylistic elements of a certain era and combines these traditional architectural elements with modern and comfortable requirements of today's living.

Reminiscence of the golden era

From an architectural point of view, the complex is designed in separate sections. Each section was constructed with its own plasticity and cladding material. One building is named in honor of the Russian Empress Catherine the Great or Catherine II ("Ekaterininsky"). Her reign was also called the "Golden Era", so it was obvious to give the terracotta façade panels for this building a golden surface glaze. With Argeton's solution, the architects of the project, SPEECH Architectural Office (Moscow) with Sergei Cheban and Igor Chlenov, succeeded in creating a design that harmoniously combines the daily well-being with visual impressions. Their design for the project was the winner of the "Records of the Real Estate Market" 2016 and the "Moscow No. 1 District", based on its high business-class level in terms of building and construction solutions.

Ceramic facade design with a noble look

The selected cladding materials were used to emphasize the broken rhythm of the building; the ceramic facade panels not only create a durable and haptically pleasant surface here, but also set expressive artistic accents. An interesting contrast with the matt surface of the limestone is provided by the large-volume geometry of the Argeton façade tile elements and the type of glaze, which emphasizes their individuality in contrast to the "Tsarskaya Square" complex. The volumetric golden façade panels with a mirror effect, installed in groups in the form of columns, look very noble in front of the background of flat white natural stone panels.

To simplify and accelerate the construction process, the facade elements were prefabricated and delivered to the construction site "just in time". A principle that can be implemented for many different facades.

The most decisive argument of the architects for the ceramic façade tiles from Argeton was the immediate delivery in the individually desired color. In addition, the special material properties also played a role in the selection of the glazed terracotta elements. "Our glazes are characterized by outstanding technical properties and special sustainability, which were confirmed in numerous laboratory tests," reports Gerold Mühle, head of laboratory at Argeton.

The client and residents can rely on the quality of Argeton's ceramic façade design - regardless of whether the temperatures at "Tsarskaya Square" drop into the double-digit minus range in winter or whether it burns like gold in summer.
