Argeton façade system stands up to the desert

New car park at Bahrain International Airport shines with Argeton facade elements

When French engineering firm ADP Ingenièrie was awarded the contract to create the building for the regional air car park center at the Kingdom of Bahrain's international airport, the airport construction experts faced a major challenge:

What kind of façade is suitable for a building on an island that is exposed to the sun 365 days a year and temperatures far above 40 degrees Celsius, as well as the hot, humid wind?

Naturally desert proof

The architects found a technically feasible solution for the building's exterior design by using the use of the Argeton façade system from Argeton. After all, it is in the nature of clay building materials that they are resistant to the impact of very high temperatures and other weathering influences. They are also impact- and break-resistant and maintenance-free.

More than 12,000 square meters of facade elements were used. In order to withstand the wind load in Bahrain and the resulting stress on the structure, special aluminum profiles were also developed which were arranged in the vertically laid terracotta elements.
These solutions ensure a special load-bearing capacity of the facade elements.

Light and privacy protection

The three-meter-long are lightfast and UV-resistant s. They protect the interior of the building from the glaring sunlight and at the same time act as a privacy screen. The products used were Barro Ellipse 300/50 and Tampalite 300/24. The color concept is elegantly restrained. Light grey, iron grey, cream, silver grey and platinum grey harmonize in gentle alternation and with few contrasts.

With the integration of the new building into the existing infrastructure of the hub airport and the passenger terminal opposite, ADP Ingénierie was able to add architectural value with the innovative façade solution.
